Volunteer Opportunities

With more than 300 acres of greenspace, gardens, and attractions from A to Zoo, there’s no shortage of volunteer opportunities at Assiniboine Park. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and work hand in hand with staff to preserve, protect and enrich the Park’s cherished character.


Information for New Volunteers

Volunteers help with a wide range of activities year-round at the Park and Zoo. From Ambassadors to Special Events, our volunteers play an integral part of the Assiniboine Park and Zoo visitor experience.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Administrative – providing office support (filing, shredding, etc.)
  • Ambassador – providing customer service at assigned locations within the Park, Zoo, and Conservatory
  • Education Program Assistant – helping staff with classes and craft activities
  • Special Events Volunteer – providing support for special events including concerts and movies in the Park
  • Visitor Services Concierge – greeting guests and answering questions at Zoo entrance

Group Volunteers

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy welcomes corporate, school and other volunteer groups to help fulfill APC’s project needs. Limited opportunities are available.

Current Group Opportunities

We are looking for corporate and school groups to help us pick up litter and winter debris throughout the Park. If your group can donate 4 – 5 hours on any of the dates listed below, we would like to have you join us on one of our clean-up days. We will provide garbage and recycling bags, pickers and rakes. Minimum group size is 10 people.

All members of the group must:

•  Enjoy working outdoors in any kind of weather
•  Be at least 16 years of age
•  Be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
•  Wear long sleeved shirts, long pants, closed toe shoes, hats and work gloves
•  Fill in a group volunteer waiver form

Dates:

•  Earth Day Clean Up | April 22, 2015 | 10 am – 3 pm
•  Spring Fling Clean Up | May 13 - 14, 2015 | 10 am – 3 pm
•  Thanks for Summer - Let’s Put the Park to Bed Clean Up | October 7 – 8, 2015 | 10  am – 3 pm

You can register your group online by filling in the Group Volunteer Application form. Please state your preferred date from the list above in the Dates Available box.
